Astronomy Lesson

From Earth to the Center of the Galaxy, by Professor and Astrophysicist Răzvan Balașov
Mina Museum - Lectia de astronomie

This project is created in collaboration with the Wowlab team, pioneers in interactive scientific education for children and young people. The content is designed by professor and astrophysicist Răzvan Balașov, who has crafted an educational narrative that explains key astronomy concepts in a clear and engaging way—from planets, stars, and black holes to the formation of galaxies and space exploration.

This interactive lesson is designed to spark curiosity and imagination in everyone, whether they are children eager to learn how the Universe works or adults passionate about science and cosmic exploration.

The lesson is enriched with stunning visuals produced by the MINA Creative Studios team and an original soundtrack composed by George Popa, a composer and sound designer. Together, these elements create an immersive experience that helps visitors better understand the Universe and its beauty.

What will you discover?

The Sun and the Solar System – How the Sun formed from a nebula and which planets revolve around it, forming a larger system.

Earth, the Moon, and other planets – Why Earth is the only known planet to host life, how the Moon influences life on Earth (tides, stable climate), and the fascinating secrets of planets like Mars and Jupiter.

Comets and black holes – The most mysterious objects in space and how they help us better understand the Universe.

“One thing I love about the era we live in is that it makes the child in me jealous—because when I was young, I wished for events, exhibitions, and projects exactly like the ones MINA is bringing to the public. Go, and if you like it... we’ll do more!” —Professor and Astrophysicist Răzvan Balașov

The astronomy lesson is open to all visitors at MINA who attend the immersive shows “Dinosaurs: An Immersive Journey into the Prehistoric World” and “The Magic Forest.”

  • Tickets can be purchased online or at the MINA reception.
  • Children under 3 years old have free access, while those over 3 years old pay the full price.
  • From Wednesday to Sunday, the last two time slots are dedicated to adults and children aged 10 and over.

Warning! The immersive experience contains rapidly changing images, as well as moments of bright lights and loud sounds, which may be harmful to individuals for whom such stimuli are medically contraindicated (e.g., epilepsy, vertigo).
