On Friday, June 26, at 11:59 p.m., the 2026 Opera Aperta International Festival presents “Claude Bolling: The Best of from Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio”, an instrumental jazz concert held at MINA Cluj.
The event features a selection of works by Claude Bolling, a French composer and pianist known for his unique blend of classical and jazz music. The program begins with one of his best-known works, Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio, in which the flute is integrated into a chamber ensemble featuring piano, bass, and percussion, creating a constant dialogue between the rigor of the composition and the freedom of jazz expression.
The concert will feature David Crescenzi on piano, Gianluca Vanzelli on flute, Szamtarto Zsolt-Attila on bass guitar, and Grigore Teodorescu on drums.
The program also includes the works Baroque and Blue, Sentimentale, Javanaise, Intime, Irlandaise, Espiègle, Versatile, Fugace, Affectueuse, and Véloce. Each piece explores a different relationship between the flute and the ensemble, alternating between lyrical moments, rhythmic passages, and sections with a distinctive character.
The concert has no intermission and ends around 1:00 a.m.
